Dr Yi Kyun Kwon
Director General - Korean CCUS Association (K-CCUS)
Professional Bio
Dr. Kwon currently serves as the Director General of the Korea CCUS Association since its inception in 2021. With a tenure that extends to 2012, he is also Professor at the Department of Geoenvironmental Sciences at Kongju National University. He holds a Ph.D. degree from the School of Earth and Environmental Sciences, and Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from the Department of Oceanography at Seoul National University.
Dr Kwon worked as Principal Researcher at the Korea Institute of Geosciences and Mineral Resources (KIGAM) and has experience carrying out several projects as a project manager related to oil and gas development and CCS. As a Professor at Kongju National University, he has focused on CCS research, and as the general manager of small-scale CO2 storage project, contributed to the success of Korea’s first CCS demonstration and to establishing CCUS policy in Korea.
